FAQ

What years cover the Victorian era?
The Victorian era was during the reign of Queen Victoria, 1837-1901.
​What kind of dances do you do?
​We learn dances that were popular during the Victorian era such as the Waltz, Quadrilles, Grand March, Schottische, Virginia Reel, and others.
Are members required to perform in period costume?
No. Public performances requiring period clothing are optional for each member.
I know nothing about Victorian clothing but I would like to have some period costumes. What do I do?
Many of our members have much experience in making and/or acquiring Victorian period costumes. They will be more than happy to assist you in any way they can.
When are meetings held?
The Amherst Victorian Dance Society meets at 7 PM on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst, N.Y. 14228.
​Do I have to join before I attend a meeting?
​No. You may attend two meetings without becoming a member. This way you can check us out and decide if the Victorian Dance Society is for you before paying for a membership.
​How much does it cost to join?
​Annual dues are $35 for individuals, $50 for Couples / Families and $30 for seniors. This includes membership in both the Society and Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village.
